Easter in Vienna: a little guide of the most popular Easter Markets of Vienna, including opening hours information.
Spring is definitely the best time to visit Vienna.
Days get longer and lighter and the city gets full of colorful and beautiful flowers.
And if you are planning to visit Vienna during Easter time that’s even better! Around the city you will see markets with Easter decorations and local products. Locals love painting their eggs and show them with pride on their market stalls.
Well Easter in Vienna is like Christmas in many cities. The vibe is very much alike but it’s way less cold. Which we don’t mind right?
But where are the most popular Easter markets of Vienna? Let’s find out!
WHERE TO FIND THE EASTER MARKETS IN VIENNA.
OSTERMARKT AM HOF.
Am Hof is right in the city center, a few meters from Herrengasse metro station.
The Am Hof Easter Market surrounds Mariensäule, Marian Column, in Am Hof Square, the largest square in the city center.
Ostermarkt Am Hof will take place from March 27th to April 13th 2020 and the opening hours are:
- Monday – Thursday: 11:00 am – 9:00 pm
- Friday – Sunday: 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
Website (only German): Ostermarkt-Hof.
FREYUNG EASTER MARKET.
Just a short walk away from Am Hof there is Freyung, another gorgeous square in the city center.
Freyung Easter Market is chock full of Easter eggs, including a rotating giant one in the middle of the square.
Also Freyung is open from March 27th to April 13th every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Website (only German): Freyung.
EASTER MARKET IN SCHÖNBRUNN, THE SUMMER RESIDENCE OF VIENNA.
Schönbrunn Easter Market is probably the most popular one in Vienna.
The background of the market is the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg Family, that creates a magical vibe of a fairytale.
The stalls are located in the free of charge area of Schönbrunn so you don’t have to buy the ticket to visit the market and walk around eggs, decorations and local products.
And if you want to travel back in time you can take a ride on the carousel made with vintage objects!
Schönbrunn Easter Market will take place from March 28th to April 14th 2020 every day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Website: Easter Market Schloß Schönbrunn.
Am Hof, Freyung and Schönbrunn are the most popular Easter markets in Vienna but actually you can breathe in the Easter atmosphere everywhere in the city!
